Goal
This international football analytics project explores player performance data across major national team competitions. I'm scraping comprehensive statistics from international tournaments and qualifiers, gathering detailed metrics that span both attacking and defensive contributions to evaluate elite-level performances. At its core, the project employs a sophisticated model that processes this statistical data to identify and rank standout performances. The model weighs various performance indicators, from key passes and shot creation to defensive actions and possession retention, creating a holistic assessment of player impact across different positions and roles within their national teams.
Result
The project culminates in striking radar visualizations, often called "pizza charts," that bring these elite performances to life. Each chart presents a multi-dimensional view of a player's match impact, with each metric carefully scaled and positioned to reveal the full scope of their contribution.
These eye-catching visualizations make complex statistical analysis instantly accessible, highlighting how top internationals excel across different aspects of the game and comparing their performances to position-specific benchmarks.
